Kilovolt KPG – Testing for 44 KVrms VLF Cables
The KPG VLF portable cable test set is used to test medium-voltage cables in accordance with the standards IEC 60502-2, CENELEC HD 620 and 621, DIN VDE 0276/620 & 621, and IEEE 400. The test is performed using a low-deformation method with a VLF (very low frequency) test voltage of preferably 0.1 Hz. VLF testing allows for the detection of insulation damage within the shortest possible test time. The VLF KPG can test cables with extruded insulation (XLPE, PE, and EPR insulation) as well as cables with paper-oil insulation (PILC).
