GE Monitoring & Diagnostics
Substation Monitoring
GE offers a wide range of solutions to monitor and manage critical assets in the power grid, detect and diagnose problems, and provide expert information and services. Our asset monitoring and diagnostics portfolio includes single and multi-gas transformer DGA solutions, comprehensive transformer and switchgear monitoring solutions, as well as software and services.
TRANSPORT X2
Portable and compact system for laboratory-quality dissolved gas analysis (DGA) on manually taken samples from mineral oil or ester-filled transformers. Enables rapid diagnostics in less than 30 minutes through an enhanced graphical touch screen user interface.
HYDRAN M2-X:
Real-time single gas and moisture DGA monitor with extended sensor lifetime, which can be easily expanded to provide a more complete transformer monitoring solution for utilities and industries.
KELMAN DGA 900 PLUS:
In-line DGA device that monitors all 9 fault gases and humidity with fourth generation PAS sensor free of consumables and dedicated options for transformer/cooling/OLTC models and bushing monitoring.
GE CB Watch 3
It is a modular and compact online monitoring solution suitable for high voltage circuit breakers. It records information using non-invasive sensors and performs real-time local monitoring of operating parameters to key circuit breaker functions. It looks for threshold violations, warns of any significant changes in operating performance and assembles an assessment of the overall breaker condition.
VAISALA
Monitoring of moisture, temperature and hydrogen in transformer dielectric oil
Power transformers are the most expensive asset in a substation. Monitoring the moisture and hydrogen levels present in the dielectric oil gives a clear indication of the overall condition of the transformer. With this information it can be decided with greater certainty if maintenance is needed or if there is some type of internal failure. In addition, with a little data analysis and trending, it is possible to know how urgent it might be to intervene, if there is a worsening condition or if it is stable. The information provided by a monitoring system saves money by preventing a power transformer from going out of service due to a failure, optimizes maintenance by avoiding outages by performing them in a planned manner and based on real-time information, which prolongs the useful life of these assets and in the worst case can prevent a catastrophic failure.
Spot measurement of transformer oil moisture, ppm, in power transformers can present major drawbacks, since it is constantly migrating between the paper and the oil as a function of temperature. Vaisala proposes the measurement of water activity as the most reliable measure, since it is possible to know when you have free water conditions, where the insulation can fail generating partial discharges or free arcs. VAISALA offers equipment that can monitor two or three transformer oil variables:
- Humidity and oil temperature
- Moisture, temperature and hydrogen in the oil
MMT330
Vaisala MMT330 series oil moisture and temperature transmitters allow fast and reliable detection of moisture in oil; can be used for in-line moisture monitoring and as a control device, allowing oil separators and dryers to be turned on only when needed; includes graphical trend display, optional data logging and WLAN interface.
MMT310
Vaisala HUMICAP® MMT310 Series Moisture and Temperature Transmitters for oil allow you to detect the moisture present in oil quickly and reliably.
MMT162
The Vaisala HUMICAP® Moisture and Temperature Transmitter for Oil, MMT162, is an excellent and cost-effective solution for reliable on-line detection of moisture in oil.
MM70
Designed for quick and easy on-site moisture checks, it also functions as a calibrator for VAISALA's various monitoring systems; graphical display, data logging and data transfer to PC.
