SF6 is a gas of great importance in the electrical industry, currently the vast majority of high voltage switchgear and encapsulated substations use this gas as a means of insulation or arc extinction. The gas has important properties for these functions, however, it represents a great challenge its handling given its high capacity to generate greenhouse effect, making necessary its maintenance so that the equipment that uses it works in the appropriate way. Monitoring the gas ensures that it is in the best condition for any eventuality, trends can be known to quantify leaks, fewer connections and disconnections are required for sampling that can generate leaks. VAISALA has a long tradition in the measurement of these variables, which guarantees a reliable method of measuring parameters such as humidity, pressure and temperature. The system is capable of measuring three parameters and calculating 4 others, as well as sending them to a control center or SCADA via modbus or RS 485.
